Without much else to do because of the Covid restrictions in 2020, I spent much of my late spring and summer in the back yard shooting these lovely birds. We were able to watch several groups of babies grow into adults, bright red for the males and a beautiful golden brown for the females. Both had bright orange beaks by the time they were fully grown. One mail in particular seemed to stand out from the others. Our grandchildren named him Sam.
