As we often heard repeated, "Only ride the bus with "TOM" in the window. Tom, our Viking Tour Escort, was with us from the time we arrived at the airport in Beijing to the time we left for home at the airport in Shanghai. When my checked luggage did not pass inspection at one airport in China, Tom was there to help with translation and ease things along as the imposing Chinese Airport Security person had me open the suitcase so he could examine the contents.
