LEAP FROGS, This is the official U.S. Navy Parachute Team and is composed of active duty Navy Seals. The team was first formed in 1969 and was officially commissioned in 1974. They jump from as high as 12,500 feet and fall at speeds up to 180mph before opening their chutes. On this day they were airlifted by a C-130 of the Missouri Air National Guard for both the day and night jumps. A flare from the night jump started a small grass fire near the parked Blue Angels jets, which was quickly extinguished by a base fire truck.
