We flew from Xi'an to CHONGQUIN to begin the next six days of our journey down the Yangtze River aboard the VIKING EMERALD riverboat. Chongquin is located where the Yangtze and Jialing Rivers meet and was China's capital during World War II. After a late afternoon boarding and welcome dinner aboard the riverboat, we left later that night for our first stop along the Yangtze, the Shibaozhai Temple.
