Heraklion
Heraklion is located on the island of Crete. The city is home to the Bronze Age Palace of Knossos, also know as the Palace of Minos. It was once the political and ceremonial center of the Mioan civilization. In Greek mythology, King Minos lived at Knossos. Many of the ruins contain etchings of a double-edged ax, which was an important and sacred symbol.
