The STEARMAN BIPLANE was a military training plane in the 1930's to 1040's. It served as the primary trainer for Navy and Army Air Force pilots in WW II, where they were also known as the Boeing Stearman and the Kaydet. Over 10,000 were built.

After the war, surplus planes became popular with crop dusters, aerobatic performers, wing walking, and sports flyers. They are widely popular even today. Some owners have installed cowlings over the radial engine (see pics #16-18) but most still fly with uncowled engines.
