During their air shows, the Blue Angels perform a variety of dirty rolls, loops, and passes using four jet and two jet formations.

In the Fortus maneuver, both solo jets begin their pass in the down and dirty configuration. The #5 jet rolls inverted at an elevation of about 200 ft. the #6 jet remains in the upright position and moved beside the #5 jet, creating a mirror image. The #5 jet then rolls upright.
