DOWN AND DIRTY. During their air shows, the Blue Angels perform a variety of dirty rolls, loops, and passes using four jet formations. Down and dirty maneuvers are always performed with the landing gear and tail hooks extended.
In a demonstration of the Super Hornet's outstanding performance, a Diamond Formation Dirty Roll, which includes a 360 loop, is always a crowd pleaser. The jets begin the vertical loop at 200 ft. elevation, reach the top of the loop at 8,000 ft., and continue the loop descending to 500 ft. before leveling out.
