THE US COAST GUARD plays an essential role in ensuring the safety of spectators, swimmers, and boaters during the aerial performances of the Blue Angels and other aerial productions. The USCGC Walnut (WLB-205), a 225 ft. sea going bouy tender is used as a stationary reference point for the various aerial performances. Her crew is assisted by a MH-65E helicopter and several smaller CG boats including an 87 ft. Marine Protector Class boat and several 45 ft. Medium Response Boats.
