Ivan, which struck South Alabama and Northwest Florida on September 16, 2004 was the tenth worst Atlantic hurricane ever recorded and the worst hurricane of that season. Ivan caused an estimated $13 billion in damages; which at the time, made it the fifth most costly hurricane to ever strike the United States.
