On a recent Wednesday we were thrilled to view the Blue Angels practice session as NAS Pensacola as the guest of Lt. Commander James Cox, the number four pilot (CLICK HERE to view a great 15 minute video about him). With us was Honorary Boss, Ken Jernigan. This first day of Fall day began with a solid overcast and quite blustery winds, which no doubt led to the formations not being as tight as they usually are. We watched in amazement as the Blues went through their takeoff ritual and spectacular aerial maneuvers. Apparently, there were several jets that developed some kind of mechanical problem, including that of the Boss, which required quick changes to backup jets. The end result was that in the formation they wound up several jets showing the same tail numbers.
