F-35 LIGHTNING II. Built by Lockheed Martin, the A-35 is manufactured in three versions, USAF (F-35A), USN (F-35C), and USMC (F-35B). Unlike the other versions, the USMC version has short take off and vertical landing capabilities. At a unit cost exceeding $110 million, it is arguably the most lethal fighter in the US inventory.
