VALLEY OF THE KINGS. Not far from Luxor, on the West Bank of the Nile River, we explored the awesome Valley of the Kings. This site contains over 60 tombs and chambers, which were built between the 16th. and 11th. Centuries, B.C. We were able to enter three of the tombs (KV2, KV11, and KV14) and view the magnificent and colorful depictions on the walls and ceilings.

KV2 contained the burial chamber for King Ramesses IV. KV11 contained the burial chamber for King Ramesses III. KV14 actually contains two burial chambers as it originally belonged to King Twosret (a female) and was later enlarged and used by King Setnakhte.
