The TERRA COTTA WARRIORS date back to around 210 BCE and include over 8,000 life size sculptures of warriors, archers, infantrymen, horses, and chariots. The size of the statues vary depending on their status, with generals being the largest.

Emperor Qin Shi Huang was a very wealthy and powerful ruler who insisted that he be protected, even in the afterlife. He had these sculptures made to be with him and protect him after death. After being buried for centuries, the sculptures were discovered by Chinese farmers in 1974 while digging for a water well.
